Retractable screens between the columns of a covered patio, turning an open porch-style space into a calm, bug-free room.
A covered patio already has a roof, a floor and a place to sit. What it often lacks is walls. The gaps between columns let in mosquitoes in June, low sun in the evening and blowing leaves in October. Retractable screens fill those gaps only when you want them, so you keep the open-air feeling the rest of the time.
We screen the openings one at a time. Each screen hangs from the beam between two columns, runs in tracks that follow the column faces and stops just above the patio floor. Where the patio meets the house, we work around doors, lights and gas lines. The result is a covered patio that feels like a room but can still open out to the yard.
The most common layout puts one screen in each opening along the open sides. A patio with three open sides might have three screens, each controlled on its own or together.
Doors, windows, outlets and gas lines all need clearance. We plan the housing and tracks so nothing rubs and everything stays reachable.
The screen needs a flat landing zone. We check for slopes, drains and pavers that could catch the bottom bar and adjust the stop point to match.
Fine mesh blocks insects while letting air through. On breezy days, lowering only some of the screens keeps the airflow you like.

A solid overhead structure with a beam to mount to is ideal. We inspect it and tell you what is needed.
Yes. Many owners start with the sides that get the most sun or bugs.
We plan the stop point and the clearance so cushions and chairs stay clear.
Yes, in normal weather. In strong wind or storms, retract them.
